What is nutritional therapy?
Nutritional therapy involves improving your health by improving your diet. A nutritional therapist will help you to identify the right foods for you, and support you in making easy, sustainable, healthy changes to what you eat. Small changes to your diet can make big changes to your health!
Who can benefit from nutritional therapy?
Nutritional therapy is suitable for everyone, whether you are physically active or not. Everyone, from the occasional walker to the Olympic athlete, can significantly improve their health and performance through nutritional therapy.
What can nutritional therapy treat?
Nutritional therapy can help with a wide variety of health conditions, including:
- Sports related health, including performance and recovery
- Fatigue, tiredness
- Weight problems
- Depression, anxiety, stress
- Constipation, diarrhoea, bloating
- Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
- PMS, infertility, menopause, cystitis
- Acne, eczema, psoriasis
- Headaches, high blood pressure
- Colds, allergies, hay fever
What happens in a nutritional therapy session?
Before the consultation you will receive a questionnaire, which you should complete and return in advance of your session. The initial consultation will take approximately an hour and a half, and will involve discussing your diet and the health condition(s) you would like to focus on; explanations of the possible underlying causes of your health problems and the role nutrition has to play in them; and the development of a personalised nutritional programme. You may be recommended to get certain tests, if necessary. Supplements may also be recommended, if appropriate. Usually you will be recommended to come back for at least one follow up consultation, if not more. This depends on each individual client and their particular health condition. Follow up consultations last about an hour. The process involves facilitating you in making small, easy, sustainable changes to your diet to improve your health and maximize your performance.

Testimonals
“I went to see Helen when I was feeling very low, after months of recurring headaches, sinus infections and very little energy. Helen’s advice was simple and very practical, concentrating on making small, manageable changes... Now, I never go hungry, in fact I am eating more than before and am discovering and enjoying a whole new range of foods. My energy levels are much higher, the headaches are almost gone and the sinus infections under control. And what’s great – I’m losing weight while eating more! Thank you, Helen!” Grainne
“… I visited Helen to gain some insight into my nutritional status. Her approach was holistic which meant making small adjustments to many aspects of my lifestyle… The difference after 6 weeks was incredible - I was brimming with energy and vitality and it showed in my face, hair and skin. Helen is encouraging and open without being at all judgmental and has a lot of personal insight that she readily shares with you - a visit is highly recommended.” Sinead
