How can SOLE Custom Footbeds guarantee ultimate comfort?
SOLE Custom Footbeds are guaranteed to be more comfortable because they take on the shape of your foot. It is simply not possible for mass produced generic footwear to fit and support every unique foot perfectly. SOLE Custom Footbeds allow you to customize the fit of all your footwear. A layer of patented # 1 rated cushioning material Softec to provide unsurpassed cushioning and shock absorption.
How do SOLE Custom Footbeds improve performance?
SOLE Custom Footbeds creates a seamless bond between your foot and your footwear ensuring all the power from your legs is transferred directly to the ground. Because you are more comfortable and less prone to injury and you can perform at a higher level and remain active longer
What temperature should I heat them at?                                                                  Keep an eye on the little heat sticker on the bottom of the footbeds. As soon as that dot starts turning black, it's a sign that the footbeds are ready to be pulled out of the oven and fitted to your feet. This usually takes about two minutes. (Make sure you preheat the oven to 90 degree Celsius before putting the footbeds in.)
Why would I buy Regular cushioning instead of Ultra cushioning or vice versa?
SOLE Custom Footbeds come in two cushioning thicknesses, Regular (1.6mm of Softec) and Ultra (3.2mm of Softec). This difference is important when you look at the type of shoe that you will wear your custom footbed in. A tighter fitting shoe might not fit the Ultra and still leave enough space for your feet. The regular is better suited for a tight shoe application. On the flipside, a loose fitting shoe is a perfect candidate for the Ultra because it offers more cushioning and helps the shoe fit more snugly that it otherwise would have.
Why are SOLE Custom Footbeds so comfortable?
SOLE Custom Footbeds take on the shape of your foot. Your feet make total contact with the orthotic eliminating pressure points and distributing the weight of your body evenly. Poron feels soft under your feet. It is also rated as one of the premier shock absorbers on the market.
How long will SOLE Custom Footbeds last?
The "Softec" cushioning layer uses open cell polyurethane so it will not bottom out or compress over time.  The overall life of your footbeds will ultimately depend how much they are used and how hard you are on them and how they are taken care of.  In general, if you are excessively hard on them, engaging in a lot of high impact miles every day you may get a year or more out of them. With general use combined with average sports use, you will likely see them last 2 years or more.  They definitely ought to out last a number of pairs of shoes.
Do I need to heat them before I wear them?
You can wear SOLE Custom Footbeds without heating them. If you require maximum support this may be best. However, heating and molding them to your feet will improve both the comfort and overall support.
Can SOLE Custom Footbeds be heated more than once?
Sure. SOLE Custom Footbeds can be reheated several times. However, it is recommended that you don't heat them more than 5 times. Excessive amounts of heating will cause your orthotics to lose their supportive, anatomically designed shape. If you feel the heating process didn't adjust your orthotics to your satisfaction simply reheat them.

Can I use them in different footwear?
Absolutely. You can use your orthotics in almost any type of footwear. You can use them in running/tennis/cross training shoes, hiking boots, ski boots, skates, roller blades, or even casual shoes. You'll find that SOLE Custom Footbeds work best in footwear with a removable insole. Feel free to move your orthotics from one type of footwear to the next.
What size do they come in?
SOLE Custom Footbeds come in sizes UK 2.5 through to a men's 14 as well as regular and an ultra cushioning styles. To select the right SOLE for you All sizes are full sizes. If you are between sizes, simply choose the larger size and trim the toe area of the orthotic to fit your existing shoes. To do this, simply place your old insoles over your orthotics and trace out the shape. Using the tracing as a guide, cut the orthotics to the correct size with scissors.
How do SOLE Custom Footbeds reduce risk of injury?
By supporting and aligning your feet properly your body works more efficiently. Not only are you more stable and less likely to sustain an injury but the muscles in your knees and back are no longer forced to work against each other to pull your body into alignment, reducing the risk of pulled or torn muscles. The layer of SofTec protects against bruising your feet and keeps the shock of activity from jarring your joints.
Can I wash them?
Machine washing will damage the SOLE. If they require cleaning please hand wash your SOLE Custom Footbeds in warm water with a bit of laundry detergent, rinse with cold water and then air dry.
What profile do they come in?
They also come in two different thicknesses for different types of shoes. Making it easy to choose the right SOLE.
If I have a foot problem won't molding the insole just make the problem worse?
By following the instructions on the package, your foot will approximate the neutral position. A neutral foot position will ensure the heated orthotics correctly mold to your feet, eliminating problems, not exacerbating existing problems. In addition, because the orthotics have just the right amount of rigidity, they will conform to your feet without becoming flat or unsupportive.
What is the advantage of heat moldable orthotics over regular insoles?
No two feet are the same and a heat moldable orthotic conforms to fit every unique foot perfectly. Competing insoles claim to offer arch support, control and comfort, but for whose foot? Regular insoles weren't designed for just your foot! Only SOLE Custom Footbeds were designed by your foot for your foot™
Why do SOLE Custom Footbeds cost less than traditional orthotics?
People with severely troubled feet may require the assistance of a health care professional. However SOLE Orthotics mold to provide support similar to that of a custom prescribed orthotic at about 10% of the cost. Many people choose to try SOLE before seeking a more expensive solution.

What should I do if I wear a half-size shoe (i.e. 9.5, 10.5, etc.)?
People who wear half-sizes should round up to the next nearest size. It is always better to be too big rather than too small for two reasons: 1. You do not want your toes to hang over the edge of the footbed. 2. It is easier to trim material off than it is to put material on!! NOTE: SOLE Custom Footbeds can be easily modified by trimming or grinding.

If the shoe fits, it supports your biomechanical needs. Every running shoe company makes different categories of shoes; stability, motion control, and cushioned (neutral.). And every company uses a different last (the cut-out upon which the shoe is made.).Some running insoles are better because they are built with better materials and offer more support than the others. However, nearly all of them – even the top brands come pre-moulded from the factory and are designed to fit feet like yours, but not designed to fit yours feet. Sole Custom Footbeds will mould to your feet and your shoes, so you can really benefit from design of the specific shoe.  Footbeds will restore your natural foot function, give a more even weight distribution, taking pressure off sore spots

Q1. Can you wear the Sole Custom Footbeds during all daily activities?
People who stand or walk all day will benefit from heat-mouldable Sole Custom Footbeds.
If you suffer from pain during any form of sporting exercise then Sole Footbeds can reduce the pain associated with your condition.
For overweight individuals, they will help to counteract the extra stress being placed on the feet.

Q2. What specific conditions may be helped?
Below is a list of all the conditions that Sole Custom Footbeds can help.
Achilles Tendonitis, Corns, Metatarsalgia, Sesamoiditis, Ankle Sprains, Flat Feet, Neuroma, Tendonitis, Arch Pain, Heel Pain, Pronation, Top of the foot pain, Bunions, Knee Pain, Shin Pain, Toe Pain.
Running imbalance in your feet can alter the bony structure of your feet and lower legs.

Q3. If I use Sole Custom Footbeds will I become dependent on them?
No. They simply allow the muscles, tendons and bones of the feet and lower legs to function at their highest potential.

Q4. Can Sole Custom Footbeds reduce pronation and prevent sports injuries?
A project conducted at the NIKE Sport Research Laboratory studied the effects of over-the counter orthotics on rear foot movement in running. Nine well-trained runners who wore orthotics were chosen as subjects. The results of the study indicated that orthotics reduced rear foot movement by roughly one degree or approximately nine percent of the amount found in runners not using orthotics. The average reduction of the maximum velocity of pronation was fifteen percent. Thus this study indicates that orthotics and insoles control over pronation which will treat and prevent many sporting injuries.

Q5. Does it take time to get used to Sole Custom Footbeds for running?
If you experience some sort of foot fatigue wearing footbeds - your feet may need time to adjust to the correct biomechanical position. During the first two days of use, use the footbeds for approximately 3-4 hours. After this period of time it is recommended you use the footbeds for 6-8 hours. In the second week of use the footbeds can be utilized all day. Note that if you have particularly sensitive arches you may need a longer period of adjustment.

Golf Study

Putting SOLE Custom Footbeds into your golf shoes improves balance and weight transfer during your golf swing. This increases club head velocity, which can add up to 15 yards to your golf shot over a 6 week period, as proven in an official university study.
Past research has shown that custom moldable insoles allow a golfer's body to establish a better point of contact with the ground when executing a golf swing. These insoles were also shown to help stabilize the foot, evenly redistribute weight and correct your entire body posture during the golf swing. In a study conducted by Stude & Gullickson (2000), 71% of participants felt there balance was improved while using custom insoles and playing golf. As well, 50% of participants felt that they were hitting the ball harder and 38% of participants reported a lower golf score. This research suggests custom moldable insoles helped golfers hit the ball harder and faster. In order to further explore these results, we at SOLE Custom Footbeds decided to conduct a study, to explore the effects of wearing custom moldable insoles on club head velocity (CHV) and yardage after playing simulated golf.

Participants

The individuals who participated in the study were all employees at a local golf store located in Calgary Alberta, Canada. Participants were asked to answer a short questionnaire, which included questions pertaining to their experience in playing golf and if they had sustained any major injuries in the last 5 years. Seven participants (6 men; 1 woman) responded to the questionnaire. Participants ranged in age from 19 to 32 years (M = 25.8, SD = 4.56). Participants had an average golf handicap of 14.4 and have been playing golf for an average of 10 years. It should be noted that none of the participants had sustained a major physical injury in the past 5 years.

Procedure and Design

The study was conducted at the store, which contained an advanced indoor golf simulator. This simulator was set up to record both number of yards driven and CHV (swing speed in miles per hour). This study was conducted in two phases. In the first phase, participants were to hit simulated golf without wearing insoles and the second phase, participants were instructed place the insoles before playing simulated golf. The participants were first instructed to hit an average of six swings of golf with their own golf shoes. In the second phase, the participants were fitted with a pair of SOLE Custom Footbeds in their golf shoes. After each participant was properly fitted, they were instructed to hit the ball six more times. CHV and yards hit was measured in all subjects before and after wearing custom moldable insoles.

Results

The results of the study can be represented in the following graphs:

Figure 1. Yardage increased by 10.8 yards when the subject was wearing SOLE Custom Footbeds.

Figure 2. Club Head Velocity (CHV) increased by 1.8 mph with SOLE
In the first phase of the study (without SOLE), the participants drove the ball an average of 212.6 yrds and their CHV was 94.8 miles per hour. In the second phase of the experiment (while wearing SOLE Custom Footbeds), both the participant’s yards and CHV increased. The participants drove the ball an average of 223.4 yrds and their CHV was 96.6 miles per hour.

Conclusion

In this study, the use of SOLE Custom Footbeds has a positive influence on Club Head Velocity and Yardage. While wearing SOLE Custom Footbeds, club head velocity (CHV) increased, while yardage increased by 10.8 yards. In addition, participants reported that SOLE Custom Footbeds reduced the effects of fatigue and thus may improve the likelihood of a more constant golf performance.
